Why do people go diving?

People dive for all different reasons, here are some of the more popular ones we have come across:

Peace and Quiet

Away from the office phones, computers and emails you can relax and float weightlessly in blissful silence whether you are floating over a reef or wreck or exploring deep in a wreck or cave – for a few minutes out of the day you can focus all your thoughts and energies on what you are doing without any outside interruptions – unless you are with rebreather divers who talk or sing through their loops – you know who you are!!

Social Event

No matter where you travel in the world whether on your own or as part of a group then you are guaranteed to be in the company of like-minded people. People to share dive stories with, to pick up tips and get recommendations on other dive sites you might enjoy.

Joining a dive centre where you live can introduce you to other divers in your area and open up a world of diving in your own home.

You don’t have to be an athlete but you do have to be reasonably healthy to dive. Most dive centres and dive agencies ask you to complete a medical before diving, so any issues arising can be discussed with a doctor beforehand.

Being out in the fresh air regularly, swimming, often in sea water, will improve your overall fitness.
